The provider is a separate local business, and its staff will be the ones who quote, schedule and carry out the job.

Call hours vary by provider. If a call goes to voicemail, leave your name and a short note about the floor.

What the Provider May Ask

Have these ready. First, find your answers. Then keep them in one place.

• The size of the floor and where it is, such as a garage or basement
• The age of the home and the floor
• Any cracks, chips, stains or damp spots
• Whether the floor was coated or sealed before
• Photos you can send

Questions to Put to a Provider

Write these down and ask each provider the same ones. That makes quotes easier to compare.

• Is the quote in writing, and what does it include?
• How will the floor be prepped, and how are cracks handled?
• Which product will be used, and why does it suit my floor?
• How long before I can walk on it and drive on it?
• What care steps do you suggest after the work?
• What does the warranty cover, and who backs it?
• Do you also handle other flooring, such as hardwood flooring installation, if I need it?
